Who am I? Well my name is Michael Lind Mortensen and I’m a 22 year old Danish social liberal. I originally created this website because I’m a believer of truth and science – a sceptic/agnostic/freedom loving freak! This blog is meant to give me the opportunity to broadcast my views and hopefully enlighten a few misguided individuals in this God forsaken world.

With regards to political views, I am, as I said, a social liberal (mostly liberal) and member of the Danish Liberal Alliance, which is a social liberal party here in Denmark. However my views often stray from the official party line – but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

I’m a model agnostic – I believe that religion and science generally are looking for the same thing, but religious people just become seriously misguided by doctrine and atheists become just as religious in their anti-religiousness as the people they claim are religious morons! Religion has brought some of the worst problems of this world and extremist religion (Christian, Muslim, Buddhism or whatever) is one of our current biggest problems. I do however not believe religion doesn’t have it’s place – we need to couple science and religion more, so that we don’t try to make science fit religion, but let religion be defined by science. Our entire scientific view of the world is based on whatever model we have to describe a given phenomena at the moment, but at the end of the day it’s still a model. We’re approximating reality, not defining it! I’m an agnostic, so I won’t claim to know that God doesn’t exist, and fittingly I can’t claim that he/she/it does! What pisses me off in this world is not religion – it’s stupidity! And this goes for both sides of the extremist gap: extremist religion and extremist atheism.

Being completely sure of something that isn’t founded in science is ridiculous!

I believe in freedom above all. Freedom of speech, freedom of sexuality, freedom to do what you want with your own life as long as you don’t hurt any innocent people.

I do not generally believe in war! I much prefer coordinated intelligence and police efforts!. I do not believe in taking civil rights from people to combat terrorism and I will forever fight for my rights even if it killed me!

I believe terrorism is a cowardly act that does not have it’s place in any conflict and can never be justified. By that rule alone I of course mainly support Israel in the Palestinian/Israeli conflict. Not thereby saying Israel doesn’t do crappy things – they do! But the cowards at Hamas should be attacking their soldiers, not their civilians. Just because Hamas has never signed the Geneva convention, doesn’t mean they shouldn’t uphold it!

I believe we need to make a fundamental change in our judicial system, so that violent criminals are imprisoned indefinitely, until a group of psychologist can conclude that the person is no longer a risk to general society! We need to stop accepting violence in our society – there’s no reason to do so!

And just so you people don’t put me into a box with a lot of other sceptic, agnostic, atheist, tree-huggers – No I don’t believe the US coordinated the attack on World Trade Center, no I don’t believe the Moon-landing never happened and no I do not believe George Bush was a calculating mastermind – I simply believe he’s an idiot!
